Janis Eddy Kin, better known as Janis Ian, is an American folk and rock singer and songwriter who was born on April 7, 1951, in Farmingdale, New Jersey. She began her artistic career as a teenager when she released her first self-titled album in 1967. She then released a few other albums that were not as successful as the first one, but she made a breakthrough in 1974 with her album titled Stars, which was followed by Between the Lines in 1975. This last album holds her most popular song, which is called “At Seventeen”. She then went unnoticed for over a decade and returned to the spotlight in 1993 with a new album called Breaking Silence. In 1997 she released Hunger, followed by God & The FBI in 2000. Her latest release was the album titled Strictly Solo in 2019.
