Jared Butler is an American professional basketball player who was born on August 25, 2000, in Reserve, Louisiana. He played basketball and competed in basketball tournaments that were held in other states . He attended Riverside Academy and was a member of the basketball team. He continued his basketball career in college after committing to Baylor University, located in Waco, Texas. In his freshman year, he was named honorable mention All-Big 12 Conference and to the league’s All-Freshman team. In 2020, he declared for the NBA draft, but withdrew from it and returned to the Baylor Bears. He led the team to their first national championship, and was chosen as the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. He declared for the 2021 NBA draft, and was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans, but was later traded to the Utah Jazz.
