Jawbox is an American alternative rock band that was formed in 1989 in Washington DC. The members of the band are vocalist and guitarist J. Robbins, bassist Kim Coletta and drummer Adam Wade. They released their first EP in 1990 under their own label called DeSoto. Their first proper album came out in 1991 and was titled Grippe, after which they added a fourth member to the band, guitarist Bill Barbot. They released their second album in 1992 called Novelty. After the release of that album, the band suffered a change in their lineup when Adam Wade left, and Zach Barocas joined. In 1994 they released For Your Own Special Sweetheart album, which became the most successful of the band. The last album of the band was the self-titled Jawbox in 1996, after which the band decided to part ways.
