Jazmine Sullivan Bio

Philadelphia native Jazmine Sullivan was born on April 9, 1987, and as a young girl was always interested in music. She signed a contract with Jive Records when she was only 15, but was later dropped from her label without releasing any material. She developed a relationship with artist Missy Elliott, and experienced a breakthrough with the release of her debut single “Need U Bad” in 2008. The single shot to the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and she followed this success with the release of her album Fearless that fall. Fearless went to #6 on the Billboard 200. Jazmine Sullivan experienced even more recognition and praise for her second single “Bust Your Windows”, which was covered on the Fox series Glee and earned her a Grammy Award nomination.

Jazmine Sullivan would go on to release the albums Love Me Back in 2010 and Reality Show in 2014. In her career, she has won the 2009 BET Centric Award, the 2010 Billboard Rising Star Award, and the 2011 ASCAP Award for R&B/Hip Hop Song for her track “Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles)”.
