Jeff Beck is an English rock guitarist born in Wallington, Surrey, England on June 24, 1944. He is best known for playing the guitar in the rock band the Yardbirds. He also formed the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice. He has appeared on albums by Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Jon Bon Jovi, ZZ Top, Cyndi Lauper, Roger Waters, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, and more. While in college he played with several bands and in 1963 started the band the Nightshift. In 1964 Nightshift joined the band the Tridents. In 1995 he joined the band the Yardbirds and played with them until 1966. In 1967 he started the band the Jeff Beck Group. They released the albums Beck-Ola, Rough and Ready, and Jeff Beck Group. In 1968 Beck released his first solo studio album titled Truth and has since released the solo albums Wired, There & Back, Flash, Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop, Crazy Legs, Who Else!, You Had It Coming, Jeff, Emotion & Commotion, and Loud Hailer. In total he released 17 studio albums, 9 live albums, 2 compilation albums, and 2 video albums. Throughout his career he has won eight Grammy Awards and was Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: as a member of the band the Yardbirds in 1992 and as a solo artist in 2009.
