Jeff Hordley (born March 7, 1970, in Crumpsall, England), is an acclaimed English actor renowned for portraying Cain Dingle in the ITV soap opera "Emmerdale." His performance in this role has earned him several nominations for the British Soap Award for Best Actor.
Raised in Oldham, Greater Manchester, Hordley attended North Chadderton Comprehensive. He furthered his education in acting by earning a BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts (Acting) degree from Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre in 1997. Tragically, in 1996, Hordley was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a condition he has battled since the age of 20, leading to multiple hospitalizations.
Hordley's acting career began with minor roles in British soap operas, including "Coronation Street." His big break came in 2000 when he was cast as Cain Dingle in "Emmerdale." He left the show in 2006 to explore other opportunities but returned in 2009.
Besides his television work, Hordley has also showcased his talents in theater. He starred in a "Mother Goose" production at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley and played Napoleon in "Animal Farm" at Leeds' West Yorkshire Playhouse. Additionally, he appeared as Mick in Harold Pinter's play "The Caretaker."
