Jeffrey Tambor Bio

Jeffrey Michael Tambor was born on July 8, 1944 in San Francisco, California, US. Jeffrey is an American actor, comedian, voice artist and writer. In his early years, he played in several TV shows such as Taxi, Barney Miller, Kojak, Three’s Company, and Starsky and Hutch. He is known for his roles as Hank Kingsley, a narcissistic sidekick of a talk show host that was fictional on the Larry Sanders Show, which he received four Emmy nominations. He is also known for his part as Maura Pfefferman on Transparent and George Bluth Sr and Oscar Bluth on Arrested Development from 2003 to 2006 with a fourth season released on Netflix in 2013. In 2004 he received his fifth Emmy nomination for the show and for a sixth time for the final season but lost to Brad Garrett of Everybody Loves Raymond. Tambor taught a popular class for actors for several years when he was available. He won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series—Musical or Comedy for his role as a transgender which makes his performance to be the first actor to win an Emmy for playing a transgender character. He received rave reviews and nominations for more awards in the show’s second season.
