Korean music artist Jessica Ho, also known as simply Jessi, was born in New York to Korean immigrant parents. Moving to Korea at age 25, Jessi tried out for SM Entertainment, a Korean entertainment company, but felt as if she didn't quite fit in.
She later debuted as a solo performer, with her first album Get Up released in 2005. Then joining the trio Uptown, Jessi was part of the group’s second album Rebirth, released in 2009. Still struggling with adapting to the Korean culture, the rapper then took a five-year hiatus from music.
Returning to the music industry much stronger, Jessi won the first season of the show Unpretty Rapstar in 2015 and was later cast in a reality show called Sister’s Slam Dunk. After these successes, her fame rose astronomically, allowing her to release two more singles.
