Jessica Mendoza, a sports commentator on television and a former softball player, was born in Camarillo, California, on November 11, 1980. Mendoza is most known for her work in the field of softball. She received the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year award in the year 1998 while attending Adolfo Camarillo High School, which she attended. Additionally, she was the most valuable player on the school's basketball team both during her junior and senior years, respectively. While she was a student at Stanford University (where she played from 1999 to 2002), she was named to the First Team All-America four times. She graduated from Stanford holding a number of Cardinal records, including those for lifetime batting average, hits, home runs, and stolen bases. Later in her career, she went on to become a color commentator for ESPN after having previously been a part of the Olympic softball team that won the gold medal in 2004.
