Jet Li was born on April 26, 1963 in Beijing, China. He began his career as a Wushu martial artist before starring in Chinese films such as the 1982 film Shaolin Temple, Once Upon A Time in China, Fist of Legend, and Fong Sai Yuk. He made his American debut in Lethal Weapon 4, agreeing to play a villain for the first time. He also starred in Romeo Must Die in 2000 with the late singer Aaliyah. His film Hero released both in the Chinese and American markets and was a commercial and critical success. He also played another Wushu role in Fearless (2006). He starred in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. He returned to acting in 2010 in The Expendables, later reprising the role for two sequels.
