Jewel Belair Staite is an award-winning actress and producer best known for her work in film and television. She was born in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, on June 2, 1982.
Jewel began her acting career in 1991 when she was cast in the film Posing: Inspired by Three Real Stories, but she became famous in 2002 when she joined the cast of the adventure-drama series Firefly alongside Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, and Morena Baccarin. She has since had recurring roles in the TV series Family Law, The Killing, Animism, The L.A. Complex, Stargate: Atlantis, and Flash Forward, and her filmography includes Serenity, Done the Impossible: The Fans' Tale of 'Firefly' and 'Serenity', Cheats, Debbie Macomber's Call Me Mrs. Miracle, Damaged Care, and The Wrong Bed: Naked Pursuit.
Jewel won two Leo Awards for Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series and Best Performance by a Female in a Short Drama.
