Jim James is a guitarist, songwriter, and singer best known for fronting the band My Morning Jacket, formed in 1998. The band is rooted in country rock, but progressive. Starting from their debut album in 1999, “The Tennessee Fire,” and their sophomore 2001 album ” At Dawn,” My Morning Jacket was set up for major label signings and world tours. their last three albums made top-ten in charts around the world.
Jim James has meanwhile engaged in solo projects, having collaborated with artists such as Bright Eyes, M. Ward, America, and Bobby Bare, Jr. His solo debut was 2009‘s “Tribute To” album, with cover songs of the recently-late legend George Harrison. After an accident in which he tumbled off stage, James was hospitalized and had time to reflect, then emerged with new determination into his solo career again. He has since collaborated with artists including Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford, Taylor Goldsmith, and Rhiannon Giddens on a Bob Dylan tribute album.
