Jimmy Barnes Bio
Jimmy Barnes is a Scottish-Australian rock singer and songwriter born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 28, 1956. He is best known for his solo career and as the lead vocalist for the rock band Cold Chisel. With his solo albums and albums with Cold Chisel Barnes has the highest number of hit albums of any Australian music artist. In 1973 he helped form the band Cold Chisel with Ian Moss, Steve Prestwich, and Don Walker. Together they have released eight studio albums, eight live albums, eleven compilation albums, and three EPs. Seven of their albums charted in the top five on the Australian Albums charts. In 1993 they were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. As a solo artist, Barnes released his debut studio album in 1984 titled Bodyswerve. He has since released the albums For the Working Class Man, Freight Train Heart, Two Fires, Soul Deep, Heat, Flesh and Wood, Psyclone, Love and Fear, The Rhythm and Blues, Rage and Ruin, 30:30 Hindsight, Soul Searchin’, My Criminal Record and more. He has also released thirteen live albums and six compilation albums. Throughout his career he has won six ARIA Awards and in 2005 he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. In 2017 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia.
