Jimmy Jam Bio

Jimmy Jam was born as James Harris II on June 6, 1959. He became popular for his collaboration with Terry Lewis – Flyte Tyme.  They worked with Morris Day and The Time. After releasing Jam and Lewis, their debut LP, they formed the Flyte Tyme Productions.

They produced the LP On the Rise by the S.O.S. Band and a track, “Just Be Good To Me” became a hit. In 1985, they worked with Janet Jackson on the album Control with the popular hits “When I Think of You,” “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” and “Nasty.” Jam and Lewis also received the Grammy Award for being the Producers of the Year. They worked with Jackson on another album Rhythm Nation 1814, which exceeded the success of Control. So far, Jam & Lewis bagged five Grammy awards.
