James William Somerville, better known as Jimmy Somerville, is a Scottish singer and songwriter who performs pop music. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on June 22, 1961. Jimmy began his music career in the early 1980s when he performed with the bands Bronski Beat and The Communards, but he began his solo career in 1989 with the release of his debut studio project Read My Lips. His discography includes the hit singles You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real), To Love Somebody, Smalltown Boy Reprise, Safe in These Arms, and the albums Dare to Love, Suddenly Last Summer, and Homage. Jimmy has had a successful career, which has given him a platform to be an advocate for the LGBTQ community. His music was featured in the album Gay Anthems: Free, Gay, and Happy alongside Eva Leone, Taylor Jay, 4 Dorothy, Sarah Washington, and Belle Lawrence.
