Joan Collins is an English actress, author and columnist. She was born Joan Henrietta Collins on the 23rd of May, 1933, in Paddington, London, England. She started her acting career on stage at age nine, in Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House”, and she later trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, in London. At 17, Collins was signed to the British film studio Rank Organisation. She made her big screen debut in “Lady Godiva Rides Again” in 1951, and she got her big break with her role as a juvenile delinquent in the drama movie “I Believe in You”. She holds credits in movies like “Decameron Nights” where she played alongside Joan Fontaine, “Cosh Boy” and “Our Girl Friday”. In 1945 she got worldwide fame for her role as Princess Nellifer in the first international production ever, “Land of the Pharaohs”. She made her Hollywood debut in the historical drama “The Virgin Queen” and from there on, she starred in more than 30 movies. She has earned many awards in her career, and in 2015 she was named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for services to charity.
