Jodie Turner-Smith (born September 7, 1986) is a well-known British actress and model who currently resides in the United States. She is most known for her roles in The Last Ship (2017), Nightflyers Queen & Slim (2019), and Without Remorse (2019). (2021).
Turner-Smith is the only one in her family who was not born in the Caribbean. She was born in Peterborough, England, to Jamaican parents. She and her mother relocated to Gaithersburg, Maryland, when her parents split. In 2008, she earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Since 2009, she has resided in Los Angeles.
She made her acting debut as a siren in True Blood in 2013, which led to a slew of minor parts in films and music videos from 2013 to 2017. She rose to fame after playing Sgt. Azima Kandie in the TNT series The Last Ship from 2017 to 2018.
