Joseph Mathias Kovacs, better known as Joe Kovacs, is an American track and field athlete who competes in shotput competitions. He was born in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, United States, on June 28, 1989.
Joe actively competed in shotput competitions throughout high school and college, and he turned professional in 2012. He has since competed in numerous international shot put events, winning medals at the 2015 Beijing, 2019 Doha, 2017 London, and 2022 Eugene World Championships. Joe also won silver in the shotput event at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and in both seasons, he shared the podium with gold medalist Ryan Crouser and bronze medalist Tomas Walsh.
