Joe Maddon is an American baseball manager who was born on February 8th, 1954 in the city of Hazleton, in the state of Pennsylvania. In the years before he became a manager, he excelled in both baseball and football while attending Lafayette College. The Major League Baseball manager was instrumental in the Chicago Cubs' victory against the Cleveland Indians in the 2016 World Series, which they won in seven games to take the championship. This victory ended the team's century-plus long losing streak. During his stint as manager of the Tampa Bay Rays, he received the American League Manager of the Year award in both 2008 and 2011. In 2002, he was a member of the coaching staff for the Anaheim Angels and earned a ring from the World Series.
