Joel McKinnon Miller, a well-known American television actor, was born in Mennesota on February 21, 1960. He spent three years travelling the country with John Houseman's The Acting Group, a classical theatre touring company located in New York City, after graduating from college. He then appeared in smaller theatres and Off-Broadway. The actor's depiction as Don Embry in Big Love made him highly recognised on television. In a couple episodes of American Horror Story: Asylum and in the film Friday After Next, he made an appearance. He had a significant role in the 2003 TV movie Secret Santa, which won an award. He lent his voice to the animated film The Swan Princess as well. He also had a minor role in The Truman Show, a movie starring Jim Carrey. However, he is best known for his eight-season stint as Detective Norm Scully on the popular NBC sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
