John Anthony Brooks Jr. (born January 28, 1993, in Berlin, Germany) is best known as a professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Bundesliga club 1899 Hoffenheim and the United States national team.
Brooks' professional career began in 2011 when he joined Hertha BSC's youth academy in Berlin. He made his first-team debut in 2012. In 2017, Brooks moved to VfL Wolfsburg, a Bundesliga club in Germany. He became a regular starter and played a crucial role in Wolfsburg's defense. In January 2023, he made a transfer to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The contract will see him play for Hoffenheim until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
On the international stage, Brooks has represented both Germany and the United States. Brooks chose to represent the United States, making his senior international debut in 2013. Since then, he has been a regular member of the U.S. national team and has participated in major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
