John Arne Semundseth Riise is a professional football manager/coach and retired player who played as a fullback and a midfielder. Born on 24th September 1980 in Molde, Norway, Riise is the most capped Norwegian player with 110 appearances. He also won the 2006 Kniksen of the Year award as Norway's top soccer player. He played for a number of clubs, including Liverpool, Roma, Fulham, and APOEL.
On 4th January 2019, Riise was named the sports director of the Maltese club Birkirkara but resigned after three months. On 5th November 2019, he was named manager of the Norwegian club Flint Tønsberg and left at the end of the 2021 season. On 8 December 2021, he signed a two-year contract management role with Toppserien club Avaldsnes. He played with Jamie Carragher and Pepe Reina during his spell with Liverpool.
