John Robert Isner is a professional tennis player born on April 26, 1985, in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. He started playing tennis at age 9, going pro in 2007. He attended the University of Georgia. The four-year All-American (2004-07) reached the NCAA singles final and won doubles and team titles in 2007.
John was the 2009 ATP Most Improved Player of the Year. He was a member of the ATP Player Council from 2014 to 2020. He won the longest match on record over Nicolas Mahut in the first round of the 2010 Wimbledon. John became the oldest first-time ATP Masters 1000 singles champion at 2018 Miami. He has won 16 ATP Tour titles and five ATP Masters 1000 doubles titles.
John attained his highest ranking in men's singles (No. 8) after reaching the semifinal of the 2018 Wimbledon. He launched the Isner Family Foundation in 2019. He partnered with Nulo Pet Food on the Aces for Animals campaign. John won the Hopman Cup in 2011.
