John Metchie III Bio
John Metchie III is an American football player whose parents are from Nigeria and Taiwan. He was born in Taiwan on July 18, 2000. Metchie has four receptions for 23 yards in his 13 games played as a freshman at Alabama in 2019. In his sophomore season, he established himself as one of Alabama's top three receivers, accumulating 916 yards on 55 catches and scoring 6 touchdowns. In 2020, he was the first receiver to take home the Jon Cornish Trophy as the best Canadian player. During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans picked Metchie in the second round. Prior to the 2022 CFL Draft, he was considered the best talent in Canada. The BC Lions took him in the seventh round, as the number one pick overall. For the Houston Texans of the National Football League, he is now their wide receiver from Canada. Prior to being selected by the Texans in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, he twice won the Jon Cornish Trophy.
