John Michael Montgomery is an American country music singer born in Danville, Kentucky on January 20, 1965. He is known for being one half of the duo Montgomery Gentry. Montgomery started his music career in his family’s band. While singing in the family band, he was signed as a solo artist with Atlantic Records. In 1992 he released his debut studio album titled Life’s a Dance. He has since released the albums Kickin’ It Up, John Michael Montgomery, What I Do the Best, Leave a Mark, Home to You, Brand New Me, Pictures, Mr. Snowman, Letters from Home, and Time Flies. He has also released three compilation albums. In 1999 he co-founded the country music duo Montgomery Gentry with Troy Gentry. Together they have released nine studio albums, five compilation albums, and two EPs. They have been nominated for numerous awards and have won an American Music Award, a Country Music Association Award, and an Academy of Country Music Award.
