John Petrucci Bio
John Petrucci is a guitarist and rock musician who is best-known as a member of the progressive metal group Dream Theater. Petrucci grew up studying guitar, influenced by idols such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and AC/DC. He was childhood friends with keyboardist Kevin Moore, who invited him to join his cover band. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, meeting the rest of the line-up that would become the members of Dream Theater.
The book “The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists” by Joel McIver ranks John Petrucci #2, second only to Dave Mustaine of the band Megadeth. Petrucci is also listed in “Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time” by GuitarOne magazine. He tours on G3 with artists Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse and Steve Lukather.
