John Petty Jr. is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Birmingham Squadron of the NBA G League. Born on 3rd December 1998, in the United States, Petty Jr. led the J.O Johnson High School basketball team to the state championship game. For his senior season, he was transferred to Jemison High School after the closure of his former school. He won his third Class 5A state title and became the third player to be named Alabama Mr. Basketball two times.
Petty Jr. played college basketball for the University of Alabama. He performed exceptionally well in college and won several awards, such as the SEC Freshman of the Week, Second Team All-SEC, and First Team All-SEC. He started his professional career after signing with the New Orleans Pelicans on 14th October 2021. He was, however, waived two days later. He joined Birmingham Squadron on 25th October 2021 as an affiliate player.
