John William Henry II, known as John W. Henry, is an American business owner, entrepreneur, and investor best known for his sports investments through his company John W. Henry & Company. He was born in Quincy, Illinois, United States, on September 13, 1949.
John began investing in sports clubs in 1989 when he bought the Tucson Toros of the Pacific Coast Baseball League. He gradually began buying bigger sports clubs, but he became famous as the owner of the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball and Liverpool Football Club in the English Premier League.
