Johnny Weir is an American figure skater, fashion designer, and television commentator born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1984. Weir is a two-time Olympian. He has won a bronze medal at the 2008 World and two bronze medals at the Grand Prix Final. He is the 2001 World Junior champion and three time U.S. national champion. Weir started skating at 11 years old and became good very quickly. In 2001, at 16 years old, he had his first victory at the World Junior Championships winning a gold medal. In 2006 Weir went to the Olympics for the first time and came in fifth and in 2010 he competed in the Olympics again coming in sixth. Weir retired from competitive skating on October 23, 2013. From 2004 to 2007 Weir skated with the Champions on Ice. He has also skated in the Artistry on Ice, Halloween on Ice, and Fantasy on Ice. Weir released an autobiography in 2011 titled Welcome to My World. He also writes a column for the Falls Church News-Press.
