Jonathan Frakes is an American actor and director born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania on August 19, 1952. He is best known for his role on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation as Commander William T. Riker. In the 1970’s he worked for Marvel Comics, but moved to New York to pursue a career in acting. He became a member of the Impossible Ragtime Theater and made his debut in acting in the production of The Hairy Ape. That same year he landed a role in the soap opera The Doctors. After departing the show he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his career in acting, landing roles in films and movies like Camp Nowhere, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek Insurrection, Thunderbirds, Five Mile Creek, The New Twilight Zone, Roswell, Criminal Minds, NCIS: Los Angeles, and many more. He was nominated for a Saturn Award and a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for his role on Star Trek: First Contact. His debut in directing was in 1990 for the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, he went on to direct a number of television shows and movies, including Star Trek: Klingon, Clockstoppers, The Twilight Zone, NCIS: Los Angeles, among others.
