Jonathan Richman, born Jonathan Michael Richman on May 16th, 1951 in Natick, Massachusetts is an American singer, guitarist and songwriter. Jonathan began to write and play music at the age of 11. In 1970 he formed a punk-rock band called the Modern Lovers. The group released a debut album in 1976 called The Modern Lovers after their breakup in 1974.
In 1975 Jonathan signed with Beserkley Records as a solo artist. In 1976 he reunite the Modern Lovers as an accompanying band to bac his solo career. In 1977 they released the album Rock and Roll with the Modern Lovers. In 1979 they released the album Back in Your Life under the moniker Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers.
In 1983 Jonathan released his first true solo works called Jonathan Sings! And Rockin’ Romance. In 1990 he dabbled in country music with the release of the album Jonathan Goes Country. In 1995 he released the album You Must Ask the Heart. The album was followed by Surrender to Jonathan in 1996 and I’m so Confused in 1998. In 2001 Jonathan released the album Her Mystery Not of High Heels and Eye Shadow. In 2004 he released the album Love as to Love. He released 6 more albums with 2016’s Ishkode! Ishkode being his latest.
