Jools Holland Bio

Jools Holland is an English pianist, singer, composer, bandleader, and television presenter born in Blackheath, England on January 24, 1958. He is known for being an original member of the band Squeeze and for his work with the artists and bands Sting, George Harrison, Magazine, The The, Bono, David Gilmore, Mark Knopfler, and Eric Clapton. Holland started his career as a musician and in 1976 had his first studio session with Wayne County & the Electric Chairs for their song “Fuck Off.” In 1974 he started playing keyboards for the British pop band Squeeze until 1981. In 1978 he started his solo career and released his debut EP titled Boogie Woogie ’78. He has since released the albums and EPs, Hop the Wag, Small World Big Band, Best of Friends, Jools & Ruby, World of His Own, The Full Development, Solo Piano, Lift the Lid, Best Of, Sunset Over London, Rocking Horse, The Golden Age of Song, Jack O the Green, The Full Complement and many more. Holland is currently hosts the shows Later…with Jools Holland and Hootenanny. He also regularly hosts the radio show Jools Holland on BBC Radio 2. In 1998 he released his debut book titled “Rolling Stones”: A Life on the Road. He has also released the books Beat the Route: Journeys Through Six Counties, Ray Charles: Man and Music, Hand That Changed Its Mind, and Barefaced Lies and Boogie-woogie Boasts.
