Jordan Peele was born on February 21, 1979 in New York City, New York. He attended Sarah Lawrence College but dropped out and formed a comedy duo with his roommate Rebecca Drysdale, a future writer on Peele’s hit comedy show Key and Peele. Early on, Peele regularly appeared in Boom Chicago, a comedic group based in Amsterdam, as well as in The Second City in Chicago. He achieved moderate success and went on to host MTV’s Comedy Weekend in 2002.
Peele gained further success after landing a role as a cast member of hit sketch show Mad TV in 2003. This is where he met his future partner in crime Keegan-Michael Key. After 5 seasons of appearing in Mad TV and several other small roles in TV shows such as The Station (2009) and Children’s Hospital (2010). In 2012, Peele and Keegan-Michael Key unveiled their Comedy Central sketch show Key & Peele and was an instant hit. The show ran for 5 seasons and ended in 2015. The success of the show earned them a total of 18 Emmy nominations and two Emmy wins, including the major award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series in 2016.
Peele and Key continued their partnership, producing and starring in the 2016 movie Keanu. Peele released his film directorial debut Get Out in 2017 to much critical claim.
