Jordin Sparks Bio
Having been the youngest person to win American Idol, Jordin Sparks has enjoyed nothing but constant success and recognition for her work in music. Born on December 22, 1989, in Phoenix, AZ, Sparks began putting on mini concerts for her family when she was still a very young girl. Her father, Phillippi Sparks, was an NFL cornerback for the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. Sparks was extremely active in her school’s musical theaters, and eventually auditioned at the young age of 14 for Junior Idol, which is an American Idol spin-off. She later auditioned at 16 for the 2007 American Idol, and wowed the judges with Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me”.
Jordin Sparks went on to win the sixth season of the show. Since her win, she has released two studio albums, including her self-titled debut album which went platinum. Her second album, Battlefield, was released in 2009 and quickly rose to #7 on the Billboard Album chart. To date, Sparks has won an American Music Award, two BET Awards, and has been nominated for a Grammy. She also appeared in the 2012 film Sparkle as the lead role.
