José Calderón Bio

José Manuel Calderón Borrallo (born on September 28, 1981, in Villanueva de la Serena, Spain) is a retired Spanish professional basketball player who played as a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Calderón began his professional career with Diputación Foral Alava in 1998 and later joined Lucentum Alicante in 1999. He led Lucentum Alicante to the Spanish First Division after winning the Spanish Second Division. He played for the senior Spain national team in the 2002 FIBA World Championship.

Calderón played for several NBA teams such as Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

He earned an All-EuroBasket Team selection in 2007. Calderón's career highlights include winning the Spanish King's Cup (2004), LEB Oro champion (2000), and being named to the All-Spanish League Team (2005). Throughout his career, Calderón was known for his playmaking ability and his free-throw shooting skills. He is regarded as one of the best free-throw shooters ever in the NBA.
