Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor is a producer born on 19th December 1985 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She has established herself as one of the best writers and producers in the film industry. Joy runs Joi Productions, which focuses on queer, black, and female-led stories. Her first role as a producer was in Sarrah Warren-directed film “M.L.E” in 2015. The following year, she produced “White Color Black”, which was directed by Joseph A. Adesunloye.
Joy has been mentored by Stephen Kelliher, Ben Roberts, and Elizabeth Karlsen. In 2019, she produced the crime-drama film “Blue Story”, which was an Instant hit. She says the film made her believe that films can be popular and artistic. In 2012, she wrote and directed the short film “For Love”. That same year, she produced the film “Boxing Day”. The film was directed by Aml Ameen.
