Rapper Joyner Lucas was born on August 17, 1988 in Worcester, Massachusetts. He began writing rhymes and rapping at the age of 7 and recorded his first track when he was just 10 years old, going by the name G-Storm. By 2007, Lucas was known as Future Joyner and released Workprint: The Greatest Mixtape of All Time as part of the Film Skool Rejekts along with his uncle, producer Cyrus tha Great. He released mixtape Listen 2 Me in 2011.
In 2012, Joyner reverted to his given name (once fellow rapper Future hit the scene) and released his debut solo mixtape Along Came Joyner in April 2015. Single “Ross Cappichioni” made waves with both fans and critic. ”Jumanji” ft. Busta Rhymes dropped later that year.
Lucas was signed to Atlantic records in 2016. His major label debut album, 508-507-2209, was released in June 2017 and features appearances by Mystikal, Snoh Aalegra, and Stefflon Don. One track from the album, “F.Y.M.” (ft. Mystikal), is featured on the Madden 18 video game soundtrack.
