Julia Nunes was born on January 3, 1989, in New York and spent most of her childhood in Rochester. She hails from a musical family. Her father is a musician who has written children's songs. She began creating songs when she was 14 and began playing the ukulele in 2005. She also sings and plays the guitar and melodica. Julia is well-known for her YouTube channel, "jaaaaaa". Among her videos are original compositions and versions of songs by Say Anything, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Destiny's Child. Her original compositions have been listed on YouTube's homepage twice. She has five albums to her credit: "Left Right Wrong," "I Think You Know," "Youtube Covers," and "Settle Down." On January 24, 2012, she made her television debut on the TBS late-night comedy show Conan, playing her single "Stay Awake." Nunes actively participates in charities.
