Julian Lloyd Webber Bio

Julian Lloyd Webber was born in the United Kingdom on April 14, 1951. He is the Principal of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He is also Sistema England’s Chair, and in 1994, he was elected as a fellow in the Royal College of Music. He is known for his work with the cello. He received his busker’s license on the London Underground in 2001. Among the musicians, he collaborated with include Elton John, Lorin Maazel, Stephane Grappelli, and Lord Yehudi Menuhin. Webber has more than 60 works with the cello. Among his most notable works include the Elgar Concerto conducted by Lord Menuhin. BBC Music Magazine named his version as the finest ever. His cello pieces include Cello Song, Unexpected Songs and A Tale of Two Cellos. He received the Distinguished Musician Award from the Incorporated Society of Musicians in 2014.
