Julieta Venegas was born in Long Beach, California and grew up in Tijuana, Mexico. Venegas grew up playing piano, singing and playing the cello. She went to Southwestern College in San Diego and Northwest School of Music. A friend invited her to play with the group Chantaje, a SKA and reggae group. Venegas continued to play with Alex Luis Zuniga of Chantaje composing the song ‘Pobre de ti’ which gave the band popularity. In 1995 Venegas was invited to compose music for the play Caligula Probablemente by Francisco Franco. It was there she put together a band called Lula and started to play the accordion. Later she formed the group La Milagrosa with Fratta and Rafa Gonzalez. In 1996 she signed with BMG music and recorded the album titled Aqui in Los Angeles California. Venegas went on tour in 1998 playing in Spain. Her second album Bueninvento was released in 2000. In 2006 she released her album Limon y Sal. In 2008 Venegas produced an album MTV Unplugged recorded in Mexico City. In 2013 she released the album Los Momentos and was the first Latin artist with a streaming iTunes page. In 2015 they released the album Algo Sucede with a single titled ‘Ese Camino’.
