Justin Courtney Pierre is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in Mahtomedi, Minnesota on May 26, 1976. He is best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the pop punk band Motion City Soundtrack. He is also known for his work in film making and music production. Pierre became interested in music in high school and played guitar and sang in a band called Slide Coaster. In 1995 Slide Coaster released an album titled Thrown. The group disbanded and Pierre started focusing on making short films. In 1997 he co-founded the band Motion City Soundtrack with his friend Joshua Cain. They released their debut album in 2003 titled I Am the Movie and have since released five more studio albums, five EPs, and one live album. As a solo artist, Pierre released his debut studio album In the Drink in 2018. In 2019 he released his debut solo EP titled Open Mic At the Lo-Fi : Vol 1 EP. Besides music, Pierre works on independent short films while at home and on tour. He has also been involved in directing music videos for several bands.
