Jusuf Nurkic is a Bosnian pro basketball player born in Tuzla in 1994. He started playing basketball at age 14 and took part in the Slovenian youth leagues with the Zlatorog team. With Union Olimpija he played the 2012 Belgrade Nike International Youth Tournament and moved on to the Croatian Cedevita team for training and a 4-year deal, including competitions at the Euroleague and Adriatic league. In 2014 he was named FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year and was drafted in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls, although he was traded to the Denver Nuggets. With the Nuggets, Nurkic’s performance earned him a nomination to the 2015 NBA Rising Stars team. The athlete was traded to the Portland Trailblazers in 2017, where he would set new NBA records on single-game scoring, with 28 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assists, and 6 blocks in 2017. Nurkic has also represented Bosnia in FIBA Europe tournaments in 2012 and 2014, and also in the 2017 Eurobasket tournament.
