Kris Campbell, the Atlanta rapper who is known by his stage name of K Camp, was born on April 27, 1990, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While he was in high school, he and his friends formed the short-lived rap group HBC. Although they parted ways, K Camp realized the talent he had could not go ignored, and released a handful of underground productions such as Fans4life and Show Money in the late 2000s.
He gained much attention in Atlanta for his work, but it was not until the release of his mixtape In Due Time that he broke out of the Atlanta circle and gained national attention. The release of his single “Money Baby”, for which he has a popular music video, gave him the edge he needed to prove himself a competent rapper. Shortly after he released the single, he was contacted by rappers 2 Chainz and T.I., who wanted to work with him. In 2014, he and 2 Chainz released the single “Cut Her Off”, a song he wrote about being mad at a girl. The song shot to the #60 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
