Kabaka Pyramid, born Keron Salmon on April 20, 1991 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a rapper, singer, and music producer. He began his career in music by performing as a rapper in high school. In 2007, he released his first mixtape entitled The Transition, Vol. 1 after appearing in New York native DJ Green Lantern’s mixtape. In 2008, he got in touch with Kingston-based music label Bebble Rock and by 2009, he was able to release his next mixtape, The Transition, Vol. 2. He started reaching a bigger audience with the said effort through collaborations with artists like Five Steez and Keznamdi. At that time, he also started to produce for Ashanti and Massyka. By 2011, he had released his EP Rebel Music, and by 2013, his debut full-length album Lead The Way had dropped. With that, Salmon had expanded his success and fan base beyond his country, even winning a Juno Award for Best Reggae Album in Canada. In 2018, he released his second LP, Contraband.
