Kandi Lenice Burruss-Tucker (May 17, 1976), better known as Kandi, is an American singer-songwriter, TV personality and actress from College Park, Georgia. The 43 year old artist started her career in the entertainment business at 14 as the founding member and vocalist of girl group, Xscap3 in the early 1990s. After the group disbanded in 1999, Burruss went on to pursue her talent at producing and songwriting, writing a number of hits for big artists such as ‘No Scrubs’ for TLC, winning a Grammy award for the single, ‘Bills, Bills, Bills’ for Destiny’s Child and ‘There You Go’ by Pink. In 2000, Kandi won a Grammy for her song with TLC and was the first woman to win the ASCAP “Songwriter of the Year”. Kandi released a number of solo projects, the first being ‘Hey Kandi…’ in 2000, her EP ‘Fly Above EP’ in 2009 and ‘Kandi Koated’ in 2010. Although Kandi grew popular in the music industry, she decided to pursue her acting career, being a part of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’, her own TV-special, ‘The Kandi Factory’ and a weekly online show on relationships, ‘Kandi Koated Nights’. Her most recent work was for Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’, where Kandi was awarded co-writing credits as the song sounded similar to TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’.
