Karina Smirnoff Bio
Karina Smirnoff is a professional dancer born on January 2, 1978 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. At the age of 5, she started taking lessons in ballet, ballroom dancing, gymnastics, and piano, among other things. She then decided that she would focus on ballroom dancing and by 11, she began competing in the field. Ever since then, she has become a five-time U.S. National Champion, World Trophy Champion, and Asian Open Champion. When she was 12, she and her family immigrated to the United States and she eventually became a citizen. In 2006, she joined the cast of Dancing With The Stars as a dance partner, and had been with the show until 2016. She won the 13th season of the show, along with partner J.R. Martinez.
