Katchafire Bio

Katchafire is a reggae band hailing from New Zealand that consists of Logan Bell on vocals and rhythm guitar, Jordan Bell on vocals and drums, Leon Davey on vocals and percussion, Tere Ngarua on bass, and Wiremu Barriball on lead guitar and talkbox. Initially intended to be a Bob Marley cover group, the group’s name was patterned after Bob Marley and the Wailer’s Catch A Fire album. By 2002, however, the band decided to release Giddy Up, one of their original compositions, as a single. The song went on to become that year’s highest grossing single, and the album that followed it, Revival (2003), went double platinum. Since then, they have released five albums: Slow Burning (2005), Say What You’re Thinking (2007), On The Road Again (2010), the compilation album Best So Far (2013), and Legacy (2018). In 2012, they were nominated for Best International Band by the British Reggae Music Awards, and in 2018, they were nominated for Group of the Year and Best Roots Artist and Best Maori Artist in the Island Music Awards in Hawaii and New Zealand Music Awards respectively.
