Kate Courtney Bio

Kate Courtney is a professional athlete and cyclist born on October 29, 1995, in San Francisco, USA. She competed for the USA National Team and Whole Athlete Development Team as a high schooler. In 2012, she became the first American woman to win a UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in the Junior category. The cross-country and mountain bike rider signed her first professional contract with Specialized Bicycles.


In her first year as an Elite Racer, Kate placed top 10 at six World Cups and finished the season in 8th place Overall. She won four U23 World Cups, her first Elite National Championship Title, and the U23 Overall World Cup victory in 2017. She also won the 2018 Elite XC World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, becoming the first American in 17 years and the fourth American woman to win an Elite MTB World Championship.


In 2019, Kate joined the Scott-SRAM team, winning three World Cup XC events and two World Cup XCC events. She won the 2019 Overall UCI MTB World Cup Title to become the first American in 17 years. She won a silver medal in the team relay at the 2021 World Championship.
