Kate del Castillo Negrete Trillo is an award-winning Mexican-American actress, producer, and director best known for her work in film and television. She was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on October 23, 1972. Kate began her acting career in 1983 when she appeared in the action film Las sobrinas del diablo. She made a name for herself in the world of telenovelas, but she became famous internationally when she starred in the drama film Under the Same Moon. She has since been a regular on the TV series Muchachitas, Mágica juventud, Alguna vez tendremos alas, La mentira, and American Family, but she is best known for starring in the action-crime series La Reina del Sur alongside Humberto Zurita, Mark Tacher, and Cuca Escribano. Her filmography includes Bad Boys for Life, No Good Deed, The Book of Life, and The 33. Kate won a Huelva Latin American Film Festival Award for Best Actress, an Imagen Award for Best Actress, and a Mexican Cinema Journalists Award for Best Actress.
