Katy B Bio
Kathleen Anne Brien, known to the world as Katy B, was born on May 8, 1989, in Peckham, London. She attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, and her fellow alumni include Amy Winehouse, Adele, Jessie J, and Leona Lewis.
She performed at the London Jazz Festival in 2009, right before her big foray into the industry. Under the label Rinse, Katy B released her first single “Katy on a Mission” in 2010. The song shot to the #5 spot on the U.K. Singles Chart and to #1 on the U.K. Indie Chart. After much anticipation, Katy B released her debut album On a Mission in 2011, which enjoyed a spot as #2 on the U.K. Album Chart.
Right after its release, she went on tour with Tinie Tempah, later embarking on her own European tour followed by a U.K. tour in late 2011. In 2013, she released a single “What Love Is Made Of” off her second album Little Red, which did very well on the U.K. singles chart. Katy B has also made an appearance as a team mentor on the BBC One show The Voice.
